Eagles Fall at Home to #3/3 North Carolina, 79-66

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Third-ranked North Carolina had four players in double-figures as the Tar Heels defeated host Boston College 79-66 Tuesday night at Conte Forum. The Tar Heels moved to 25-5 overall and 15-2 in the ACC while Boston College dropped to 14-15 overall and 5-12 in the conference.
The Tar Heels broke a 16-16 tie with a 12-0 run and never looked back. North Carolina closed out the first half on a 20-3 run as the Tar Heels led 48-25 at halftime.
UNC shot 48 percent from the field in the first half, including 6-of-13 from behind the arc. Cameron Johnson led the way with 16 in the first 20 minutes while Luke Maye added 15.
Ky Bowman was 5-of-10 from three-point range to lead BC with 15 first half points. Overall, BC shot just 24.3 percent from the field in the first half as the Tar Heels also held a 32-18 advantage on the glass.
BC outscored the Tar Heels 41-31 in the second half as Carolina secured the 79-66 victory.
Johnson led the Tar Heels with 22 points and 12 rebounds while Maye added 17 points and 20 rebounds. North Carolina held a 60-35 advantage on the night in rebounding, including a 20-7 advantage on the offensive glass.
Bowman led the Eagles with 23 points, including seven three-pointers. The junior guard also tallied nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Nik Popovic added 20 points and seven boards for BC.
