ABOUT THE EAGLES
Boston College is 12-11 overall after winning its series finale against No. 20 Clemson on Sunday. The Eagles are 3-1 in midweek action and 1-1 against teams from New England. Freshman outfielder Sal Frelick is BC's top hitter; leading the team in batting average (.395), RBI (19), slugging percentage (.593), walks (11), on-base percentage (.471) and stolen bases (13). Senior third baseman Jake Alu, who has spent time in seven different spots in the lineup, is hitting .341 with six doubles, three home runs and RBI. Freshman second baseman Cody Morissette is the third Eagle with a .300-or-better average at .326. He has a team-high seven doubles with 17 runs scored and 14 driven in. On the mound against the Huskies, Boston College hands the ball to freshman right-hander Joe Mancini, who is 2-2 with a 4.76 earned run average in 22.2 innings.SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Connecticut entered the week at 13-8 overall and plays Hartford in its home opener on Tuesday. The Huskies picked up a road series win at Houston last weekend with a 9-3 win on Sunday. Center fielder Michael Woodworth is hitting a team-high .378 with four home runs and 21 runs scored. Shortstop Anthony Prato is hitting .329 with a team-high 10 doubles. Left fielder John Toppa is tied with Prato for second on the team with a .329 average. He has driven in and scored 18 runs. RHP Jacob Wallace has six saves in nine appearances with a 1-0 record, 0.60 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 15 innings.ALL-TIME VS. UCONN
Boston College trails the all-time series against Connecticut, 61-41. The Eagles are 15-24 in Storrs and last played there in 2013; a 7-4 win behind a three-run home run by freshman Chris Shaw in the top of the ninth inning to snap a 15-game losing streak. Shaw's go-ahead home run was on a two-strike pitch out to right and his second of the day. The two sides have played to an even 7-7 record since the Eagles joined the ACC ahead of the 2006 season. The Eagles lead the ACC with 55 stolen bases, which ranks eighth in the country. Sal Frelick is third in the ACC with 13 and Chris Galland ranks fourth with 10. As a team, Boston College swiped 92 bags in 2018. The Eagles ranked second in the ACC behind Louisville and 21st in the nation. BC averaged 1.88 per game; good enough for second in the league and 12th in the NCAA. Three Eagles tallied 19 stolen bases or more as Galland led the way with 28.
