Junior guard adds to his postseason list of honors
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Ky Bowman added to his haul of postseason honors, earning spots on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Region Two and United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) All-District I teams.
Bowman was named to the NABC All-Region Two First Team. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division I, Region Two covers teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Along with Bowman, Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett of Duke and De'Andre Hunter and Kyle Guy of Virginia were also selected as first teamers.
For the second consecutive year, Bowman was one of 10 players named to the USBWA All-District I team. The USBWA has selected All-District Teams since the 1956-57 season for each of its nine geographic districts. District I covers the six New England states. Bowman is joined by Player of the Year Anthony Lamb (Vermont), Jalen Adams (Connecticut), Bryce Aiken (Harvard), Desmond Cambridge (Brown), Alpha Diallo (Providence), Cyril Langevine (Rhode Island), Miye One (Yale), Vasa Pusica (Northeastern), and Cameron Young (Quinnipiac).
On March 11, the Havelock, N.C. native was named to the 2018-19 All-ACC Second Team, while also receiving a vote for ACC Player of the Year. Bowman earned a total of 188 votes cast by a selection panel consisting of the league's 15 head coaches and 55 members of the media.
Through the regular season, Bowman was the only player in the ACC to rank among the conference's top 10 in scoring, rebounding, and assists. He finished the regular season fourth in scoring (19.2), eighth in assists (4.0), and 10th in rebounding (7.6).
One of the top rebounding guards in the country, Bowman ranked third in the ACC - and 36th nationally - in defensive rebounds (6.8 DR/g). The Nation's Most Dynamic Guard leads the country in minutes per game and KenPom's minutes percentage through the regular season.
It marked the third time that Bowman has earned ACC postseason honors. He was named to the All-Freshman team in 2016-17 and was an honorable mention selection a season ago. Bowman is the 10th Boston College player to earn All-ACC honors since the Eagles joined the league in 2005-06.
