JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – Ailin Li was the top Boston College finisher at the seventh annual Briar's Creek Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston, as she tied for 36th in a field of nearly 100 golfers from 17 schools. As a team, the Eagles were 15th at the event.
Li entered the final round in a tie for 15th at even par following her first two rounds on Monday, including a 71, but she shot a +8 round of 80 on Tuesday to drop outside the top-30. Alexa Rivas rebounded from an opening round 81 with scores of 74 and 76 to finish in a tie for 63rd overall at +15.
Bibilani Liu fired a 74 in round one but stumbled in rounds two and three, slipping back to 70th at +17. Katie Kim was +1 after the first round but failed to break 80 in the final 36 holes as she finished 79th in the tournament. Linrui Chen closed out the competition +32 for 91st.
Rivas was the most consistent Eagle over the two days in South Carolina with 36 pars, while Li made nine birdies to rank top-20 in the field.
Michigan State coasted to the team title at -8 as Allyson Geer-Park won the individual crown at -13 for the Spartans.
Boston College will travel to Statesboro, Georgia for the Strutter Gus Invitational on March 31 and April 1 for its final tournament before the ACC Championship.
