
Eagles Soar Past Virginia Tech 5-2 on the Heights

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women's tennis collected its second ACC victory of the season on Sunday with a 5-2 win over Virginia Tech at the Flynn Recreation Complex. The Eagles improved to 11-5 (2-5 ACC), while the Hokies fell to 7-9 (1-6 ACC).

After winning the doubles point convincingly, No. 67 Yufei Long defeated No. 101 Natalie Novotna in straight sets 6-2, 7-5 from the No. 1 slot to give Boston College a 2-1 cushion. Senior captain Jackie Urbinati followed by beating Elizabeth Danailova by the exact same score for a 3-1 edge.

Nina Kozar cut the lead to 3-2 as she outlasted No. 75 Kylie Wilcox in a third set tiebreaker in No. 2 singles, but BC needed just one win from the final two singles matches to seal the victory. Elene Tsokilauri and Laura Lopez both won in straight sets from the No. 5 and 6 slots as Lopez recorded the clincher by sweeping Shane Disbergen 6-3, 6-0.

Lopez and Tsokilauri also combined to win their No. 3 doubles matchup 6-2.
The Eagles host No. 22 Florida State next Friday (March 22) at 2 p.m. on the Heights to conclude their three-match homestand. BC then flies to Atlanta to face 31st-ranked Georgia Tech on Sunday (March 24) at 12 p.m.
