Bolang Meng Selected for NCAA Fencing Championships

The freshman will compete in the men's sabre at the National Collegiate Men’s and Women’s Fencing Championships.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College freshman fencer Bolang Meng was selected to compete in the 2019 National Collegiate Men's and Women's Fencing Championships. it was announced today by the NCAA Men's and Women's Fencing Committee. Meng is one of 144 fencers who will be competing at the event, which is being held at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio, March 21-24, 2019.Â
Meng will be heading to the strip in the men's sabre. The Foster City, Calif. native is coming off a 12th-place finish in the sabre this past weekend at the 2019 NCAA Northeast Regional.
Fencers will compete in a round-robin format of five-touch bouts. After round robin, top- four finishers in each weapon will fence in semifinal 15-touch bouts, with winners fencing to determine first and second places, and non-advancing fencers being awarded a tie for third place.Â
