Gianna Boccagno drilled her team-leading fourth home run of the season
MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – Penn State scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally from a 4-0 deficit as the Nittany Lions defeated Boston College 5-4 Friday afternoon at the Madeira Beach Tournament.

The win moved Penn State to 4-10 on the season while the Eagles dropped to 3-9.

Boston College got on the scoreboard first with two runs in the second. Freshman Carlie Sanders plated two runs with a single to score Kristin Giery and Jenna Ergle. The clutch hit came with two outs for Sanders.

Ergle led BC with two hits on the day, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The Eagles doubled their lead on one swing in the third as Gianna Boccagno smacked her team-leading fourth home run of the season to give BC a 4-0 advantage. Boccagno homered earlier in the day against St. John's in the Madeira Beach Tournament.

Penn State scored two in the bottom of the third before scoring three runs in the home half of the sixth to take a 5-4 lead. The Nittany Lions scored one run in the sixth that was unearned before a two-run double by Tori DuBois gave the Lions their first lead of the game.

BC looks to bounce back tomorrow with a pair of games in the Madeira Beach Tournament. The Eagles start their day at 11 a.m. versus Central Michigan before facing Georgia Southern at 1:30 p.m.
