
Penn State Rallies for 5-4 Win Over BC

Gianna Boccagno drilled her team-leading fourth home run of the season
MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. – Penn State scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally from a 4-0 deficit as the Nittany Lions defeated Boston College 5-4 Friday afternoon at the Madeira Beach Tournament.

The win moved Penn State to 4-10 on the season while the Eagles dropped to 3-9.

Boston College got on the scoreboard first with two runs in the second. Freshman Carlie Sanders plated two runs with a single to score Kristin Giery and Jenna Ergle. The clutch hit came with two outs for Sanders.

Ergle led BC with two hits on the day, going 2-for-3 with a run scored.

The Eagles doubled their lead on one swing in the third as Gianna Boccagno smacked her team-leading fourth home run of the season to give BC a 4-0 advantage. Boccagno homered earlier in the day against St. John's in the Madeira Beach Tournament.

BC looks to bounce back tomorrow with a pair of games in the Madeira Beach Tournament. The Eagles start their day at 11 a.m. versus Central Michigan before facing Georgia Southern at 1:30 p.m.
