Eagles Drop Game One at the Hands of Boise State
AUSTIN, Texas – The Boston College softball team dropped its first game of the 2019 season on Friday, Feb. 8 in the Texas Classic to Boise State in five innings by a score of 8-0.

The Eagles started strong with a scoreless top half of the first. Freshman Camryn Dolby recorded her first career strikeout to end the inning.

In the bottom half of the inning, Lexi DiEmmanuele led off with an infield single before being thrown out attempting to steal second. Following the out, Emme Martinez walked, and Gianna Boccagno singled up the middle. With the Eagles threatening, Jenna Ergle stepped to the plate, and forced a walk to load the bases for BC. The rally came to a halt when the Broncos retired the next two Eagle hitters.

The top half of the second inning saw the Broncos erupt for three runs. Jessica McKay led off with a walk, and managed to score on an error to give Boise the first run of the contest. The Eagles allowed two more runs, on one hit and two errors before recording the final out of the inning on a fielder's choice.

Boise added to its lead with a double, and an RBI single from Rebekah Cervantes in the top of the third. In the fourth, the Broncos plated their fifth run on an RBI-triple from Ashlyn Adams. After a walk, Cervantes added to her impressive afternoon with a bases clearing triple to give Boise State a 7-0 lead. Another RBI double from the bat of McKay earned BSU an 8-0 lead before the Eagles ended the inning on a grounder back to the pitcher.
Maddison Hamilton went 1-2 on the day with a single to right field in the second inning.
