How It Happened:
Â
Texas started the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when a walk and a hit by pitch led to an RBI-double off the bat of Miranda Elish. With runners on second and third, Shannon Rhodes roped a double to the right field wall, clearing the bases and giving the Longhorns the early 3-0 advantage.
Â
Emme Martinez broke out the stick in the top of the fourth inning, ripping a double to the left field wall. Martinez was stranded as the Eagles were retired to end the inning.
Â
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Texas loaded the bases with back-to-back singles from Rhodes and Slack, and a pinch-hit walk from Espinosa.
