No. 23 NC State Edges Eagles 5-2 on the Heights

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – 23rd-ranked North Carolina State won the doubles point and clinched the match with four singles victories for a 5-2 defeat of Boston College on Sunday at the Flynn Recreation Complex. The Eagles dropped to 9-3 and 1-3 in the ACC, while the Wolfpack improved to 10-2 (2-0 ACC) following its fourth straight win.
After knocking off the sixth-ranked player in the nation against UNC on Friday, Kylie Wilcox closed an impressive weekend by beating Alana Smith in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 in No. 2 singles. Natasha Irani also earned a victory from the No. 4 slot as she outlasted Liz Norman in three sets 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
No. 25 Anna Rogers helped clinch the match for NC State with a three-set thriller against Yufei Long in top singles. Rogers and Long went to a third set tiebreaker, which the Wolfpack's No. 1 player took 10-5 as it ended on a double fault. Long, who beat the No. 2 player in the country on Friday, was leading the third set 5-2 before Rogers came back to force the tiebreak.
Laura Lopez and Elene Tsokilauri fell in straight sets as NC State closed the match with wins at No. 5 and 6 singles for a 5-2 final.
Next weekend, Boston College travels to face Wake Forest on Friday (March 1) and Clemson on Sunday (March 3) in ACC play.
