Eagles Drop Tough Road Loss at UNC, 93-78

Freshman Taylor Soule tallies career-high 21 points with 9 rebounds.
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Boston College women's basketball team fell to North Carolina, 93-78, on Thursday at Carmichael Arena in an ACC match up.
With the loss, Boston College is now 14-13 overall and 3-11 in the ACC. UNC improved to 17-11 and 8-6 in the conference.
Freshman Taylor Soule led BC with a career-high 21 points, shooting 8-for-17 from the floor and 5-for-5 from the foul line. Soule also matched her career-high with nine boards and had two steals. The Tar Heels were led by Janelle Bailey with 31 points, while Kia Paris pitched in with 25 points.
After Emma Guy opened up the game with a traditional three-point play, North Carolina pounded the ball down low as Bailey scored six points in an early Tar Heels run to take a 15-4 lead. Bailey scored 12 consecutive points as the UNC lead grew, 20-9. The Eagles trailed, 31-15, after shooting just 25 percent in the first quarter.
In the second quarter the teams match shot for shot as UNC outscored BC, 22-21, to take a 53-36 lead into the locker room.
BC shot 42.9 percent from the floor in the third quarter but could not chip away at the UNC lead. After a 21-21 quarter, the Tar Heels held a 74-57 lead into the final frame.
A 9-2 run by BC was ignited by a three-pointer from freshman Marnelle Garraud. The run cut the Heels' lead to 10 points, 76-66, with 6:51 to play in the game. UNC answered with a 6-3 run behind Paris, extending the lead, 82-69.
With 1:25 to play, sophomore Milan Bolden Morris hit a three-pointer from the corner to cut into to a 10-point game. Carolina scored four straight points to keep the Eagles at bay.
