Eagles, Great Danes Square Off on Tuesday Night

Clear Bag Policy:
Similar to football season, a clear bag policy will be in effect for all men's basketball games at Conte Forum. Approved bags for entrance to Conte Forum include a clear plastic bag that does not exceed 12"x12"x6", a one-gallon sized clear plastic bag, or a small clutch wristlet or handheld wallet.

Concessions:
The special concession item of the game: $3.50 pizzas. New kids fare is available in Conte Forum and all items will be $1.50, including Uncrustables peanut butter and jelly sandwich, Goldfish snack crackers, and "kid popular" bottled drinks provided by Coca-Cola. Additionally, all concessions (with the exception of alcohol) will be discounted by 50% pre-game, prior to tip-off.

Today's game marks the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

BOSTON COLLEGE VERSUS THE AMERICA EAST

Boston College is 61-16 versus America East opponents.
BC's most common America East opponent is UNH (26-6).
This marks the sixth straight season that the Eagles will take on an America East foe in the non-conference.

LUCK OF THE EAGLES

BC snapped several losing streaks on Dec. 7 at Notre Dame.
The Eagles snapped their four-game slide dating back to the DePaul loss at home on Nov. 23.
BC ended a 13-game slide vs. ND dating back to Feb. 8, 2005.
The Eagles had been winless vs. the Irish in ACC play (0-12).
Additionally, the win at Notre Dame ended a streak of losses at the Joyce Center that dated back to Jan. 11, 1997.

EFFICIENCY

The starting backcourt of Derryck Thornton and Jay Heath combined for 35 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals in the win at Notre Dame on Dec. 7.
Thornton (9-12; 1-1 3FG) and Heath (6-12; 4-6 3FG) combined to shoot 15-24 from the floor, including 5-7 from the perimeter.
Backcourt reserves Jared Hamilton (6-8 FG; 1-1 3FG) and Julian Rishwain (2-3; 2-3 3FG) were a combined 8-11 from the field, including 3-4 from beyond the arc.

JAY DOT BUCKETS

Jay Heath ranks fourth nationally among freshman in 3FG%, making 50.0% of his attempts from beyond the arc (21-42).
His 21 made 3-pointers rank him tied for 16th nationally among all freshmen.
Over his last five games, Heath has made 17-of-31 from the perimeter, including 5-of-7 vs. Eastern Washington.
The last BC freshman to make five 3-pointers in a game: Ky Bowman (5) vs. Notre Dame on Feb. 14, 2017.
Heath has scored in double figures in eight of the nine games in which he has appeared.
The D.C. native scored 18 points in the season-opening win over Wake Forest.
He ranks third among all ACC freshmen in scoring (12.9 ppg), first in 3FG%, second in 3FGM, and is third in steals (11).

Mitchell has led the team in rebounding in eight games, blocks on six occasions, assists four times, and steals three times.
Against High Point, Mitchell logged his seventh career double-double, with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
It was his highest scoring total and first double-double since Dec. 4, 2018 vs. Providence (10p/11r).

Graduate transfer Derryck Thornton has returned to the ACC to play his final season of eligibility.
He is Boston College's leading scorer (15.2 ppg) and ranks 10th in the ACC in scoring.
Thornton also ranks ninth in the ACC in assists, averaging 4.1 assists per contest, and fourth in steals (1.8 spg).
Thornton and Duke's Tre Jones are the only players in the league to rank in the top 10 in scoring, assists, and steals.
His top two career scoring performances - 23 vs. Wake Forest and 22 at USF - came in the first two games of the season.
Overall, three of Thornton's top four and six of his top 10 single-game scoring totals have come in a BC uniform.
Thornton began his career at Duke in 2015-16, averaging 7.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 36 games (20 starts).
The Los Angeles native transferred to USC, where he played two seasons for the Trojans from 2017-19.
Thornton averaged 6.0 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 57 games at USC, posting a 1.73:1 assist/turnover ratio.
Last season, the 6-3, 195 lb. point guard averaged 7.7 points, 2.8 boards, 4.3 assists, and a 2.2:1 assist/turnover ratio.

CJ Felder has proven to be a solid contributor off the bench for Boston College through the first 10 games.
The 6-7 freshman forward is averaging 6.1 points and just under 4.0 boards in 20 minutes of action per game.
He tallied eight points, four rebounds, and two assists at Notre Dame and had a season-best 10 points last at USF.

SWISH-RAIN

Julian Rishwain found his range in BC's home game versus DePaul, knocking down 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.
The 6-5 freshman guard tallied a season-best 15 points vs. the Blue Demons, adding 3-of-4 from the foul line.
For the season, the freshman guard has connected on 10 3-pointers, shooting 35% from the perimeter.
