Eagles Compete at BU Opener to Kick Off Season

BOSTON – The Boston College women's indoor track and field team kicked off its 2019-20 season at the BU Opener in the BU Track and Tennis Center on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The Eagles had four with top-3 finishes. Julia Lyons had the best finish of the day, placing second in the long jump with a mark of 5.71m (18-9.00). Abigail Gothers then gave the Eagles another top-3 finish in a field event, this time in the high jump. She hit a mark of 1.65m (5-5.00) to place third in the event. The last top-3 finish was by Katherine Mitchell, who ran a 2:13.11 in the 800m to finish in third.
BC had two sixth-place finishes on the day, with Lyons running a 7.91 in the 60m and Maureen Lewin running a 25:57.77 in the 1000m.
The Eagles also had five seventh-place finishes as Isabella Bruno hit a mark of 11.03m (36-2.25) in the triple jump. They also had Sarah Heckel and Anna Harmon run a 59.02 and 1:37.53 in the 400m and 600m, respectively. Paige Duca then ran a 9:35.56 in the 3000m to finish in seventh as well.

BC is off for a month until the New Year, where they will head to Harvard for the Beantown Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Gordon Indoor Track in Allston, Massachusetts.
