Eagles Set to Face Colgate in Round One of NIVC

The volleyball team takes on Colgate in its first-ever postseason appearance
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. –The Boston College volleyball team (20-11, 11-7 ACC) is set to take on the Colgate Raiders (22-7, 15-1 Patriot League) in the first round of the 2019 National Invitational Volleyball Championship for its first-ever postseason appearance on Friday, Dec. 6. First serve is set for 7:00 PM at Cotterell Court in Hamilton, N.Y.
The Eagles capped their regular season with win No. 20 on the season, matching the all-time program record. BC hadn't reached the 20-win milestone since 2004, during its final season as a member of the Big East conference. The win came in the teams' 13th five-set match of the season as the Eagles topped NC State in a nail-biting comeback match on Senior Day in Chestnut Hill. Senior Jill Strockis paced the effort, recording a season-best .382 attack clip with the teams' only double-double through 15 kills and 12 digs.
BC opens the 2019 National Invitational Volleyball Championship taking on Colgate for the first round of the competition. The NIVC field features only one team that BC has already
faced this season - ACC foe Georgia Tech. The Eagles took their regular season meeting back on September 29, marking a 2-0 start to conference play.
BC and Colgate first met back in 1991 as the Raiders took the opening win, 3-0, at a neutral site match in Syracuse. The Eagles, however, hold the overall series advantage, winning six of the nine matchups through history. The Raiders took the most recent win in 2011 as Colgate completed a 3-0 sweep in New Haven, Conn.
The winner of Friday evenings' match will take on either New Hampshire or Tulane in the second round on Saturday at 5:00 PM.
