Eagles Fall to Northwestern, 66-63

Milan Bolden-Morris leads Eagles with 14 points in loss.
EVANSTON, Ill. – Junior Milan Bolden-Morris had 14 points while redshirt sophomore Cameron Swartz added 13 but it was not enough as Boston College fell to Northwestern, 66-63, in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge Wednesday night at the Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Bolden-Morris made four three-pointers, while Swartz had seven boards to go along with her 13 points. Senior Emma Guy was 6-for-8 from the floor and added five rebounds, while sophomore Taylor Soule had seven points with a career-high 10 rebounds.
Northwestern was led by Lindsey Pulliam with 25 points on 10-for-16 shooting from the floor.
The Wildcats never held a lead more than seven points. There were five ties in the game.
BC cut the lead to three points with under two minutes to play on a bank shot from Swartz.The Eagles had two layups roll off the rim in the final minutes of play that would have tied the game.
The Eagles dropped to 5-4 and will open up ACC play on Sunday at Duke (2 p.m.). Northwestern (6-1) will next host Dartmouth on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles fell behind 18-14 in the first quarter as Wildcat senior Lindsey Pulliam had nine points in the opening frame. BC had seven turnovers but held a 15-7 advantage on the boards. Emma Guy led the Eagles with seven points.
- BC opened the quarter with a 7-2 run as Milan Bolden-Morris had five of the seven points in the first four minutes. The Eagles run grew to 11-2 behind a layup from Georgia Pineau (6 points, 5 rebounds) and BC went up, 25-20. Northwestern responded with an 8-0 run before Bolden-Morris hit her second three of the quarter to tie the game, 28-28. The Wildcats took a 34-30 lead at the half on four straight points to end the quarter.
-The two teams exchanged baskets to open up the third quarter. With less than five minutes to play, the Wildcats held a 41-36 lead. The Eagles cut the lead to two points, 43-41, with 57 seconds to play on a layup by Guy. The Wildcats took a 46-41 lead off a free throw and a bucket to end the quarter.
- Despite opening the final 10 minutes hitting 4-of-5 from the floor, BC was down by five with 7:24 left in the game. The Eagles went on a 5-0 run to cut the lead to one point behind a three-pointer by Bolden-Morris and a layup from Taylor Soule. Cameron Swartz hit a three-pointer at 4:26 to cut the deficit to one at 60-59. After two straight hoops by Northwestern, Swartz hit a bank shot but BC was down, 64-61. The Eagles defense caused a 10 second call and with 37.5 to play, BC had the ball and turned the ball over with 10 seconds to play. Pulliam hit two freebies to secure the win for the Wildcats.

- Boston College held a 27-12 lead on the boards at the half. The Eagles finished the game with a 53-29 edge on the boards.
- Sophomore Taylor Soule had a career-high 10 rebounds, along with seven points in the loss. Sophomore Makayla Dickens pitched in with nine boards.
- BC had 19 assists on 27 field goals. Sophomore Marnelle Garraud led the Eagles with seven assists. She also had seven points and five rebounds.
- The Eagles bench outscored Northwestern, 23-17.
