Seven Spring Races Lead BC Rowing to Championship Season
December 18, 2019 | Rowing
First-year head coach Grace Hollowell releases 2020 schedule.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College rowing team released its spring competition dates on Wednesday. The Eagles open 2020 at the Ryder-Den Benston Cup on the Cooper River on March 22. BC races seven times before the ACC Championship in Clemson, S.C. May 15-16 on Lake Hartwell.
Â
Under first-year head coach Grace Hollowell, Boston College competed just twice in the fall at the Head of the Housatonic and the Head of the Charles in mid-October. Inclement weather wiped out the second half of the Eagles' fall slate.
Â
Following the Ryde-Den Benston Cup, BC participates in the BU Lightweights on March 28 and then faces MIT for the MIT-BC Cup, while also racing against BU on April 4.
Â
The Eagles second race of the spring on the Cooper River is the Knecht Cup April 10-11.
Â
Boston College races on back-to-back days competing for the Resolute Cup at Rhode Island on April 25. The Eagles then take on Holy Cross and Connecticut for the Irving-Christianson Cup on April 26.
Â
The regular season comes to an end on May 3 at the Eastern Sprints on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester.
Â
Last season, Boston College finished ninth at the ACC Championship. Kylie Kraemer earned All-ACC Second Team. BC's Second Varsity Four reached the grand final and places sixth overall.
