Tyler Vrabel Named Freshman All-American

Left tackle yet to allow a sack on 314 pass blocks in 2019
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College redshirt freshman left tackle Tyler Vrabel was named a Freshman All-American by The Athletic on Thursday. Vrabel, who started all 12 games at left tackle for the Eagles, is a key member of a BC offensive line that ranks third nationally in sacks allowed and sixth in rushing offense.

An All-ACC honorable mention selection, Vrabel is part of a BC offensive line that had all five players earn all-conference accolades in 2019.

Vrabel has yet to allow a sack on 314 pass blocks in 2019. He has allowed just one quarterback hit and eight hurries all season protecting the blind side for quarterbacks Anthony Brown and Dennis Grosel.

His 81.7 pass block grade per Pro Football Focus ranks fourth among all ACC tackles in 2019.

Vrabel finished the regular season with six clean sheet performances (zero pressures allowed) in 12 games.

Vrabel and the Eagles return to action on January 2 in the TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl versus No. 21 Cincinnati. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET on ESPN from historic Legion Field in Birmingham, Ala.
