
Huskies Hand Eagles First Loss

Delaney Belinskas became the 32nd player in program history to reach 75 career points.
STORRS, Conn. – The No. 5/6 Boston College women's hockey team dropped its first game of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 5-2 to the UConn Huskies at the Freitas Ice Forum. Delaney Belinskas scored twice for the Eagles in the loss.
UConn scored just 55 seconds into the first period and then took a 2-0 lead near the midway point. Belinskas scored with 2:41 to go in that opening period, but the Huskies took a 3-1 lead 14 seconds left before the break. UConn got the lone goal of the middle frame for a three-goal lead entering the third. Belinskas cut the deficit early in the third but Viki Harkness put home her second of the game with six minutes to play for a 5-2 final score.
Maddy McArthur finished with 28 saves for BC while Morgan Fisher stopped 26 for UConn. The Huskies held a 33-28 lead in shots on goal.

- 1st, 00:55 | 0-1, UCONN GOAL: After Danielle Fox won the draw at the circle to the right of McArthur, Taylor Wabick wristed a shot from the top of the circle that deflected inside the post.
- 1st, 12:14 | 0-2, UCONN GOAL: The Huskies broke into the zone on the power play, with Catherine Carwley's centering pass going through the low slot out to Morgan Wabick for a finish at the right post.
- 1st, 17:19 | 1-2, BC GOAL: Crossing the blue line, Erin Connolly sent a pass in between two Huskies to Belinskas as she hit the slot, and Belinskas redirected the puck past Fisher.
- 1st, 19:46 | 1-3, UCONN GOAL: McArthur made left-pad save on a shot from the point but the Huskies kept fighting for the loose puck, with Leona Sim eventually pushing it over to Harkness to stuff home at the left post.
- 2nd, 15:17 | 1-4, UCONN GOAL: UConn sent the puck out to the neutral zone and Natalie Snodgrass broke in alone on McArthur and put her shot into the upper right corner.
- 3rd, 4:23 | 2-4, BC GOAL: Belinskas tracked down a loose puck below the goal line and came back out around the net before turning and sending the puck back towards the crease and through Fisher's legs.
- 3rd, 13:50 | 2-5, UCONN GOAL: From the left circle, Harkness wristed a shot off the iron that then trickled inside the left post.
- BC now holds a 36-16-10 all-time mark against UConn … the Eagles have a record of 13-9-8 against UConn in Storrs.
- With her goal in the first period, Delaney Belinskas became the 32nd player in program history to reach 75 career points … the senior now has 76 points on 36 goals and 40 assists.
- Belinskas now has 17 career multi-point games … this marked her second consecutive two-goal game ... she has a team-leading seven points on three goals and four assists against UConn.
- Erin Connolly picked up her first point of the season with the primary assist on Belinskas' first goal of the game … the Eagles now have 16 players with at least one point.
- This marked the first time this season that BC was held scoreless in the second period.
