Eagles Top UMass Lowell In Season Opener, 89-46

Chestnut Hill, Mass. – The Boston College women's basketball team started the 2019-20 season with a 89-46 win over UMass Lowell in non-conference action at Conte Forum on Tuesday night.
Senior Emma Guy led the Eagles with her ninth career double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Marnelle Garraud finished with 14 points and a career-high six steals, while sophomore Taylor Soule added 12 points with three rebounds.
The Eagles opened the game on an 11-2 run behind two three-pointers from sophomore Milan Bolden-Morris. BC's lead was 19-4 after the first quarter as the defense forced the River Hawks into 10 turnovers.
Boston College took a 38-20 lead at the half behind 10 points from Guy and eight points from Bolden-Morris. BC shot 36.8 percent from the floor in the half.
Guy scored seven points early in the third quarter to extend the Eagles' lead to 49-26. Boston College held a 66-37 lead going in the final 10 minutes. The team shot 8-for-12 from the floor in the quarter and 12-for-15 from the foul line in the quarter.
The Eagles continued to roll in the fourth quarter as the lead extended to 25 points on a Makayla Dickens layup at 8:25. BC outscored the River Hawks, 23-9, in the final quarter.

- Freshman Jaelyn Batts scored her first points on a runner down the lane at 3:58 in the first quarter. She finished the game with eight points.
- Redshirt sophomore Cameron Swartz finished the game with four points, four rebounds and three assists. She recorded her first point as an Eagle with six second left in the first quarter to give BC a 19-4 lead.
- Sophomore Milan Bolden-Morris opened the game with a three-pointer from the corner. She finished with eight points and five rebounds. She now has 119 career three-pointers, enough for 12th place on the all-time list.
- BC had 19 steals, one away tying the program record of 20 steals set against Holy Cross in November 26, 2002.
- The Eagles won the battle of the boards, 44-37.
