The volleyball team looks to bounce back as they welcome Syracuse to Power Gym
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The Boston College volleyball team (17-8, 8-4 ACC) plays host to conference foe Syracuse (8-11, 5-7 ACC) for the teams' sole midweek match of the season on Wednesday, November 6 at 5:00 PM in Power Gym. The match will be available for stream on the ACC Network Extra.
The Eagles opened November with a pair of lengthy matches, taking both Louisville and Notre Dame to five sets. BC came out with the win over the Cardinals but fell to the Irish to finish the weekend at home.Â
Against Louisville, Amaka Chukwujekwu led with 14 kills only behind the Cardinals' Aiko Jones. The junior holds the second-best spot in the conference in hitting percentage with a .416 and just broke into the top-10 in blocks, stopping 104 attack attempts so far this season. The win over Louisville snapped a seven-match skid, marking the Eagles' first win since 2014. On the defensive front, senior Jill Strockis paced with a personal record day, putting up a season-best 17 digs and a career-high five blocks.
Led by Polina Shemanova's 359 kills, 25 aces and 199 digs, the Orange sit at ninth in the conference with a 5-7 ACC record, capped with a current 3-0 win streak after taking down NC State, Notre Dame and Louisville. The Eagles and Orange first met in 1990 as Syracuse had earned the W in their last three meetings. BC last came out on top on November 2, 2016 - another Wednesday night match in Chestnut Hill.
The Eagles round out the week hosting Virginia Tech on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 PM in Power Gym.
