BC running back collects fourth ACC Running Back of the Week award.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Boston College's AJ Dillon and Zion Johnson were voted ACC Running Back of the Week and ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week following the Eagles' 58-27 win at Syracuse. Dillon and Johnson each contributed to BC's program-record 691 yards of offense, including 496 on the ground.
Â
Dillon posted his fourth career game of over 200 yards with 242 on 35 carries. He scored three touchdowns to break both the BC all-time rushing touchdown (37) and total touchdown (39) records. Dillon's first score of the game came from 51 yards out, his longest run of the season.
Â
The award marks Dillon's fourth of the season from the ACC and seventh of his career. His seven career ACC weekly awards are the most by a running back in the last seven years. Dillon enters this week with 3,983 rushing yards; the most in BC history and seventh most in league history.
Â
Johnson, a Davidson transfer that played in a reserve role in each of BC's first six games, made his third consecutive start at left guard as an Eagle. He played 71 snaps as the BC offensive line paved the way for the Eagle ground game and provided a pocket for quarterback Dennis Grosel to pass for 195 yards on 8-of-10 through the air. Johnson graded out as BC's best lineman against the Orange with a 93 percent grade and four knockdown blocks.
Â
The award is Johnson's second of the season and the third overall for a Boston College offensive lineman.
Â
The Eagles are home this week against Florida State for their Red Bandanna Game at noon on ACC Network from Alumni Stadium.
