CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Senior Georgia Pineau scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Boston College past Rhode Island, 66-55, on Thursday night at Conte Forum in a non-conference game.
Boston College is now 3-2 and will host Virginia Commonwealth on Sunday at 2. Rhode Island is now 2-2 and will host Vermont on Monday night.
Pineau shot 6-for-12 from the floor and scored eight of her 13 points in the second quarter as BC built a 16 point halftime lead.
BC pulled away early in the first quarter as the defense held URI to just six points and 15.8 percent shooting from the field. The Eagles lead grew to a game-high 22 points with just over 5:21 to play in the second quarter.
Three sophomores also reached double-figures for BC in the win. Guard Makyala Dickens chipped in with 11 points, while Cameron Swartz had 10 points with three bounds and Marnelle Garraud had 10 points, six rebounds and three assists

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Boston College shot 46.7 percent from the floor in the first quarter to take a 19-6 lead. Cameron Swartz hit two three-pointers, while Milan Bolden-Morris pitched in with five points in the quarter. BC held URI to just three field goals in the quarter.
- The Eagles pushed the lead to 22 points behind a 13-4 run in the first five minutes of the second quarter. Georgia Pineau had six points in the run as BC went up 32-10. Pineau had eight points in the quarter while Makayla Dickens added six.
-The Rams cut a 16 point halftime lead to 10 points with 3:57 to play in the third quarter. URI shot 6-for-11 in the first seven minutes and outscored BC 12-6. The Eagles lead was down to eight points with 3:34 to play on a jumper from Marta Vargas. Cameron Swartz sparked a 7-0 run with four straight points as the Eagles took a 52-39 lead going into the final quarter.
- Sophomore Marnelle Garraud took over the final quarter scoring 10 of the Eagles 14 points. The teams matched baskets and URI cut the final lead to 11 points on 7-0 run to end the game.

- Freshman Jaelyn Batts earned her first start. She finished with five points but grabbed a career-high eight rebounds.
- Boston College led 39-23 at the half as the Eagles shot 53.3 percent from the floor in the half. BC held a 24-19 edge on the boards in the half.
- Senior Georgia Pineau finished with a team-high 13 points with seven boards. She was 6-for-12 from the floor.
- The Eagles finished the game with a 46-43 edge on the boards.
