DALLAS – The PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced today the 10 semifinalists for the 2019 Doak Walker Award, including AJ Dillon of Boston College. It marked the second consecutive season that Dillon has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the nation's top running back award.

To determine the 2019 finalists, members of the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee will cast their votes after this week's games. Three finalists for the award will be named Monday, November 25. The Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee will cast a second vote to select the 2019 award recipient. The 2019 Doak Walker Award recipient will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday, December 12 on ESPN.

Dillon, who became Boston College's all-time leading rusher earlier in the season, is third nationally with 1,451 rushing yards and 145.1 rushing yards per game.

The New London, Conn., native is fourth in ACC history with 4,148 career rushing yards. He is the eighth player in conference history to reach the 4,000-yard plateau. Dillon is 455 yards away from setting the ACC record for career rushing yards.

Against Florida State, Dillon moved into second place in Boston College history with his 19th career 100-yard game. Dillon finished with 165 yards on a career-high 40 carries. He moved into a tie for eighth place in ACC history with the 19, 100-yard games with Virginia's Tiki Barber (1993-96).

Earlier in the season, Dillon became Boston College's all-time leader with 35 rushing touchdowns as he scored on a 51-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter against Syracuse. He entered the game tied with Keith Barnette (1973-75) with 34 rushing touchdowns. Dillon ended the day with three touchdowns to up his career total to 37 rushing scores.

The Award is named after three-time SMU All-America running back and 1948 Heisman Trophy winner Doak Walker. Walker, who also punted, returned kicks and kicked extra points, led the Mustangs to two Southwest Conference Championships. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions and led the league in scoring his rookie year. During his six years with the Lions, he led the team to two NFL championships and was chosen All-Pro four times. Walker is a member of both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame.

The Doak Walker Award is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA), which includes college football's most prestigious awards. Founded in 1997, the NCFAA and its 24 awards boast 800 recipients, dating to 1935. Visit NCFAA.org to learn more about the NCFAA.
