Eagles Head to Virginia to Take on the Hokies

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's soccer team will head to No. 25 Virginia Tech on Thursday for an ACC conference battle.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Thompson Field, and the game will be live on ACCNX, which can be streamed on WatchESPN.com or the ESPN App. This marks the first of two straight road games in Virginia for BC, with a match at Virginia set for Sunday, Oct. 27.

A WIN OVER VIRGINIA TECH WOULD . . .

ABOUT VIRGINIA TECH
• The No. 25 Hokies are coming off a 1-0 win over Wake Forest on Friday night, with Grace Sklopan netting her first career goal in the second half for the win ... Mandy McGlynn posted her ninth shutout of the season with her two-save performance.
• The win snapped a five-game winless streak for the Hokies, with the team going 0-3-2 in ACC play after having opened up league play with a 2-0 win over Miami.
• Virginia Tech opened up the 2019 season with nine consecutive wins before falling to top-ranked Virginia, 2-0, on Sept. 26.

ABOUT HEAD COACH JASON LOWE
• Jason Lowe was named the program's fifth head coach on Jan. 9, 2019.
• Lowe arrived on the Heights after serving on the coaching staff at Wake Forest since 2014, including 2017 and 2018 as associate head coach.
• The Shaker Heights, Ohio native helped the Demon Deacons reach the NCAA tournament Round of 32 in 2017 and the Sweet 16 in 2018.
• Prior to Wake Forest, Lowe served as an assistant coach at Alabama for five seasons and two years at Emory.
• Lowe served as a goalkeeper for the Wake Forest men's soccer team from 1994-97.
• In addition to receiving his bachelor's degree in 1998, Lowe also earned his MBA from Wake Forest in 2002.

SISTER TO SISTER
• Captain Kayla Jennings' goal against Wake Forest on Oct. 13 was assisted by her younger sister Jillian Jennings.
• It marked the first time that the Jennings sisters have teamed up for a goal.
• It was not the first time this year that two sisters combined for a BC goal ... in the Eagles' win over Miami on Sept. 26, Michela Agresti hit Samantha Agresti with a pass and Samantha Agresti in turn found Olivia Vaughn for a goal.

VALUABLE VAUGHN
• Senior forward Olivia Vaughn is BC's active scoring leader with 59 points on 26 goals and seven assists.
• Vaughn has notched two braces so far this season, doing it against UMass Lowell (Aug. 25) and Miami (Sept. 26) ... she now has six for her career.
• Vaughn recorded a career-high 21 points on a career-best 10 goals and one assist as a junior ... she also recorded a career-high 65 shots.
• Her four assists so far this season is a single-season career high ... her four assists also tie with Riley Lochhead for the team lead.
• The Montclair, N.J. native has played in all 74 of BC's contests since arriving on the Heights.
• In ACC play this year, Vaughn has 17 shots on goal, good for a tie for eighth in the ACC ... her eight points in conference play is tied for second in the league.

CAPTAIN CARREIRO
• Midfielder Gaby Carreiro has tied her career-high in goals scored this season with three.
• The tri-captain scored one against Boston University on Aug. 29 ... she has also gone 2-for-2 on penalty kicks, converting against Miami (Sept. 26) and Louisville (Sept. 29).
• Through 15 games, Carreiro has three goals and two assists for eight points ... her career high is 10 points, which came during the 2016 season on one goal and eight assists.

SMITH SCORES
• Freshman Sam Smith has 17 points for BC through the first 15 games of the season.
• Her eight goals ties for fourth in the ACC while her three game-winning goals is good for a tie for third in the conference.
• The Hanson, Mass. native has scored eight goals and assisted on one other.
