
Eagles Head to Vermont for Sunday Matinee

The seventh-ranked Eagles visit the Catamounts for one Hockey East game.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The seventh-ranked Boston College women's hockey team will travel to Vermont on Sunday to face the Catamounts for the first time this season. Both Hockey East squads enter the conference clash with five-game unbeaten streaks, as BC sits at 5-0-0 and Vermont at 2-0-3.

BOSTON COLLEGE IN BRIEF
• Hannah Bilka (5-4-9) and Cayla Barnes (2-7-9) are tied for the team lead in points … Bilka's five goals is tops on the squad while Barnes and Kelly Browne lead the team in assists with seven each.
• Maddy McArthur is 4-0-0 in goal with a .960 save percentage, 1.00 goals against average and two shutouts while Kelly Pickreign is 1-0-0 with a shutout on her 18-save performance against Merrimack.
• The Eagles are converting on 24.0 percent of power plays and killing off 93.3 percent of penalties ... BC started off the season with 27 straight successful kills, its best streak to start a season since killing off 35 straight to open the 2015-16 season.
• BC opened up the season with road wins at Merrimack (2-0, 3-1), Holy Cross (6-0) and Syracuse (4-3) before finally returning home on Friday night and opening up the home slate with a season series sweep of Merrimack (8-0).
• This is the second time in program history that the Eagles have opened up a season with five consecutive wins at 5-0-0 (40-0-0 in 2015-16) ... it is the eighth time the program has started unbeaten in the first five games of a season.
• The Eagles finished the 2018-19 season with an overall record of 26-12-2 and finished second overall in Hockey East regular season standings at 19-7-1.
• Four players return for BC after having notched at least 20 points in last year in Lindsay Agnew, Browne, Barnes and Delaney Belinskas.
ABOUT THE CATAMOUNTS
• Vermont is coming off a 3-3 tie against UNH on Friday night in its first Hockey East contest of the season … the Catamounts jumped out to a 3-0 lead before UNH climbed back in … the tie extended UVM's unbeaten streak to five games, which is the best to start a season in program history.
• UVM opened its home slate with a 2-2 tie and 5-2 win against St. Lawrence last weekend ... the team kicked off the year on the road with two games at RIT, winning 3-1 and tying 4-4.
• Maude Poulin-Labelle (2-4-6) and Sini Karjalainen (1-5-6) are tops on the team in points while 17 players total have registered at least one point for the Catamounts.
• In goal, Blanka Skodova is 2-0-2 with a 1.71 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.
• Head coach Jim Plumer is in his eighth year behind the bench at Vermont … the Catamounts were tabbed ninth in the Hockey East Preseason Coaches Poll.
SERIES HISTORY vs VERMONT
• In the first meeting of 2018-19, the Eagles topped the Catamounts at Kelley Rink, 3-0, behind Maddy McArthur's first career shutout ... BC traveled to UVM for two games in January 2019, earning 4-2 and 5-2 wins for the season series sweep.
• In the 4-2 win on Jan. 18, 2019, Jillian Fey notched her first career goal.
• Sunday marks the 54th meeting between the two teams as varsity squads ... BC and UVM played one game before the Catamounts ascended to varsity status.
• The Eagles carry a 32-game unbeaten streak and a 23-game winning streak into Sunday's conference clash.
• BC has won the last 23 meetings between the teams and is 24-0-1 in the last 25 meetings, (dating back to Jan. 12, 2013).
• Vermont's first-ever Division 1 win came against BC: a 3-2 OT win on Oct. 18, 2002 in Chestnut Hill ... UVM also won the 2003 meeting (3-1 at Kelley Rink).
• The Eagles are 47-3-3 all-time in the series.
• Boston College skated to an 8-0 win over Merrimack on Friday night in the home-opener … the win gave the Eagles the regular season series at 3-0-0 and moved BC to 17-8-1 all-time in home-openers and 16-1-0 in the series with the Warriors.
• Lindsay Agnew had a career-high five points on a career-high three goals and two assists … the senior earned the hat trick with her fifth career short-handed goal in the third period … it was the 17th five-point game in program history.
• Kelly Pickreign made 18 saves for her first career shutout … it marked BC's third shutout in the first five games of the season, a program first.
• Seven Eagles total finished with multiple points while 10 total players found the score sheet … Delaney Belinskas finished with two goals while Caroline DiFiore added one goal and two assists for three points.
• The 8-0 win marked the 12th time in program history that BC has scored eight goals and it was the 19th game of at least eight goals.
AGNEW'S CAREER NIGHT
• Lindsay Agnew had a career-high five points on three goals and two assists in BC's 8-0 win over Merrimack on Oct. 18 … it was the 17th five-point game in program history.
• The senior opened the scoring in the first period with her fourth career game-winning goal, added a goal and an assist in the second period and did the same in the final frame … she hit 50 career points with her first goal of the game.
• Her short-handed goal to complete her first career hat trick marked the fifth short-handed goal of her career, moving her into a tie for seventh all-time in program history with Emily Field.
• Last season, Agnew made a big impact in her first season as an Eagle, setting career-highs in points (26), goals (15) and assists (11) … the captain also led Hockey East and tied for second in the country with four short-handed goals.
• The team went 18-2-1 when she had at least one point and 12-1-1 when she scored a goal in 2018-19.
DEFENSIVE START…
• Boston College has posted three shutouts in the first five games of the season, a program first, with Maddy McArthur shutting out Merrimack on Sept. 27 and Holy Cross on Oct. 3, and Kelly Pickreign stopping Merrimack on Oct. 18.
• The Eagles posted two shutouts in the first five games of the inaugural 1994-95 season and to start the 2010-11 season.
• BC also began this season with 27 straight successful kills, the best streak to start a season since killing off 35 straight to open the 2015-16 season.
…OFFENSIVE START
• The Eagles scored 23 goals through the first five games of the season, its highest goal total to start a season since potting 26 goals in the first five games of the 2015-16 season.
• Twelve different players have notched points for BC with eight different players scoring goals, including seven with multiple goals.
FAST FIVE MINUTES
• Eight of BC's 23 goals scored this season have come in the opening five minutes of a period with 21 (8-13-21) of the Eagles' 61 total points (23-38-61) also coming in that time frame.
• BC's eight goals is second in the nation, with the 13 helpers and 21 points also ranking second.
• Hannah Bilka is tied for the national lead in "scoring early" with three goals and three assists for six points in the first five minutes of a period this season ... Olivia Finocchiaro's five points (2-3-55) is third in the nation.
