No. 26 Eagles Place Ninth at Pre-National Invitational

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The No. 26 Boston College women's cross country team competed against some of the countries' top collegiate teams at the Pre-National Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19, placing ninth in the blue race out of the 37-team field.

Of the 37-team field, 10 were nationally ranked in the USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll. BC scored 358 points during the meet and outscored both No. 11 Ole Miss (376 points) and No. 11 Boise State (383 points)

Isabelle Kennedy and Lauren White finished together running a 20:42.5 and a 20:44.6 to finish in 30th and 34th, respectively, out of the 252 runners who finished the race. Â

Anna Oeser was the next to cross the finish line for the Eagles, placing 85th with a time of 21:20.9. Just trailing Oeser was Emeline Delanis, who ran a 21:29.7 to finish in 102nd. The last of the Eagles' scoring team was Fian Sullivan Sweeney, who finished in 112th with a time of 21:35.2. This is the first time this season Sullivan-Sweeney has finished in the top-five for BC.

Sarah Flynn just trailed Sullivan Sweeney, running a 21:38.3 for 119th-place, while Paige Duca rounded out the top-seven for the Eagles in 193rd to run 22:19.9.
In the open race, Caroline Barry led the trio of BC runners competing with a 21:55.9 to finish 11th. Then Ella Whitman came across the finish line in 29th with a 22:31.1. Lastly, Kylee Raftis placed 41st with a 22:55.3.

Boston College runs again next weekend as its final prep before the ACC Championships at the Central Connecticut State Mini Meet on Friday, Oct. 25.
