Boston College Falls to No. 3 North Carolina

The Tar Heels scored two goals in the first half and held off BC's second-half pressure.
NEWTON, Mass. – The third-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels topped the Boston College women's soccer team, 3-0, on Thursday night at the Newton Campus Fields.
Maycee Bell scored in the eighth minute for UNC off of a corner kick and then Lotte Wubben-Moy converted a penalty kick 11 minutes later. The Tar Heels would hold the 2-0 lead at the break.
Twenty minutes into the second half, Samantha Agresti had BC's best look when she got in behind UNC's back line for a solid shot on goal, but Claudia Dickey was equal to it. Rachel Jones scored the Tar Heels third goal in the 80th minute for the final 3-0 score.
The Eagles will hit the road for two matches, traveling to Virginia Tech on Thursday, Oct. 24 and then over to Virginia for a game against the Cavaliers on Sunday, Oct. 27.

- 8' | Wubben-Moy served in a high corner kick that traveled to the far side of the box where Bell ran onto it and headed it inside the left post.
- 19' | Wubben-Moy placed a penalty kick low and to the right of Augur. The BC goalkeeper guessed correctly and a got a piece of it with her hand but it found the back of the net.
- 80' | Cutting back towards the middle of the field inside the box, Alessia Russo slide a pass over to Jones who took a touch and then fired back across the box, with the ball bouncing off the post and in.
- Boston College has a record of 1-19-0 in the all-time series against North Carolina.
- UNC had the final 17-6 lead in shots and a 9-3 lead in shots on goal … the Tar Heels earned four corner kicks to one for the Eagles.
- Allie Augur finished with six saves for BC … Marz Josephson started for UNC, playing the first half and making two saves in earning the win while Claudia Dickey played the second half, making one save.
- Sam Smith, Olivia Vaughn and Samantha Agresti each finished with one shot on goal … for Smith, it marked her fourth outing this season of 90 minutes or more.
- Smith, Augur, Riley Lochhead, and Michela Agresti each played the full 90 minutes for the Eagles.
