Eagles Sweep UConn 7-0 in Home Opener

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's tennis team swept UConn 7-0 in its spring home opener on Tuesday at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
The Eagles earned the doubles point as Derek Austin and Sean Mullins won their No. 1 doubles match 6-4, while Conor Mullins and Santiago Montufar earned a 6-3 victory.
BC went on to dominate singles play to sweep the match. Austin, Max Mendelsohn, Conor Mullins, and Alexander Chieffalo all won their singles matches in straight sets from the No. 1, 3, 5, and 6 slots. Markus Nordby and Sean Mullins outlasted their opponents in three sets with Mullins winning a final set tiebreaker.
Boston College, which improved to 1-1 on the spring, will host Boston University and Southern New Hampshire this weekend on Friday (Feb. 1) at 4 p.m. and Saturday (Feb. 2) at 12 p.m. on the Heights.
