Eagles Prepare to Host BU and SNHU This Weekend on the Heights

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College men's tennis team will host a pair of matches this weekend on the Heights. The Eagles face Boston University on Friday (Feb. 1) before taking on Southern New Hampshire at 12 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 2) at the Flynn Recreation Complex. UCONN RECAP
After falling to St. John's on the road, BC evened its record at 1-1 on Tuesday by sweeping UConn 7-0 in its spring home opener. The Eagles earned the doubles point as Derek Austin and Sean Mullins won their No. 1 doubles match 6-4, while Conor Mullins and Santiago Montufar earned a 6-3 victory.
BC went on to dominate singles play to sweep the match. Austin, Max Mendelsohn, Conor Mullins, and Alexander Chieffalo all won their singles matches in straight sets from the No. 1, 3, 5, and 6 slots. Markus Nordby and Sean Mullins outlasted their opponents in three sets with Mullins winning a final set tiebreaker.

SCOUTING REPORT
Boston University enters the matchup at 2-2 after sweeping Siena (7-0) and Sacred Heart (6-1) at home last weekend. The Terriers fell at Virginia Tech and Davidson to open the season, losing 7-0 in both matches. BC downed BU 6-1 last February at home. Southern New Hampshire went 3-0 in the fall, dropping just one point against Roberts Wesleyan, Daeman, and St. Anselm. The Penmen, who are making their spring debut this weekend, lost 7-0 on the Heights last season.

Boston College opens ACC play next weekend with a pair of matches against ranked opponents. The Eagles travel to No. 15 Notre Dame on Friday, Feb. 8 and host No. 13 Virginia on Sunday, Feb. 10.
