January 24, 2019 | Rowing
Signing class spans Atlantic coast.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College head rowing coach Steve Fiske officially announced the signing of six student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Thursday. The Eagles picked up three rowers from Massachusetts, while reaching into Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Florida to round out the class of 2023.
"This is a strong and experienced class and we are confident they will have an immediate impact on both the speed and the culture of the program," stated Fiske. "They are all great athletes and, more importantly, great people. We cannot wait to have this group join us and continue to elevate the program."
Â
Emma Bonner, 5'10, Agnes Irwin School, PA
"I chose Boston College because there is a unique combination of academic rigor and sense of community that I haven't seen anywhere else. I felt an immediate sense of school spirit and team pride when I stepped on campus. I was very at home in Boston and after my visit, I knew BC was the obvious choice! I am so excited to be an Eagle!"
Â
Sasha Bocek, 5'9, Choate Rosemary Hall, CT
"I chose Boston College because of the perfect balance of excellent academic and athletic programs. BC is a strong community, steeped in tradition. It's exactly what I was looking for in a university. Of course the location is unbeatable with an abundance of amazing opportunities for career development before and after graduation. I'm so excited to be an Eagle!!"
Â
Erin McDonald, 5'9 Newton South HS, Cambridge Boat Club, MA
"I chose BC because I have always wanted to attend this school since I was little. The academic and athletic balance pushed my decision in a positive direction as well as the ability to watch all 3 of my older sisters go through school at BC. It created a great impact on me and my family."Â
Â
Grace Neilson, 5'8, Wellesley HS, Community Rowing Inc., MA
"I chose BC because I felt welcomed from the moment I stepped on campus, and I was excited at the prospect of joining such a positive environment. I'm thrilled to spend my next four years rowing as an Eagle."
Madeleine Palmer, 5'8 Cardinal Mooney HS, Sarasota Crew, FL
"I'm so excited to join such a hard-working and friendly team. BC offers all I wanted from my college experience; a great team, a beautiful campus, and excellent academics. I can't wait to join in the Fall!"
Â
Alex Poole, 5' 10, Noble and Greenough School, MA
"BC was different and it immediately felt like the place for me: happy, challenging, and warm. I feel so lucky to have found a crew program that values support, grit, and compassion because of some incredible coaches and leaders with high expectations!"Â
