
No. 10 BC Treks to Vermont to Battle the Catamounts

The Eagles took the first meeting of the season, 3-0, back in October.
Boston College (14-9-0, 11-7-0 HEA) is coming off a split with No. 3 Northeastern last weekend. Both squads won its respective home game, with the Huskies taking a 4-1 game at Matthews Arena on Friday night and the Eagles winning at Kelley Rink on Saturday, 7-5. Vermont (7-12-4, 5-9-2) is also coming off a Hockey East split after hosting Merrimack for a pair last weekend. The Catamounts fell in the first tilt, 4-1, before bouncing back for a 5-4 win on Saturday.Â
The Eagles and Catamounts have already met once this season. On Oct. 20, 2018, Maddy McArthur made 25 saves for her first career shutout while Daryl Watts, Makenna Newkirk and Caitrin Lonergan scored the goals for BC. Megan Keller (11-16-27) leads the team in points while Watts (14-10-24) is second. Eve-Audrey Picard leads the Catamounts in points (18), goals (7), assists (11) and face-off winning percentage (.625).
Next weekend, Boston College will take on No. 9 Providence in a home-and-home series. Both games will start at 2 p.m., with Friday's taking place at Kelley Rink and Saturday's at Schneider Arena.

ABOUT BOSTON COLLEGE
• BC earned its first win of 2019 on Jan. 12 with a 7-5 win over No. 3 Northeastern ... it was part of a weekend split that saw the Eagles falling, 4-1, the night before.Â
• The win snapped a three-game skid for BC ... it was the third win against a ranked opponent this season.

• The previous weekend, the Catamounts also split a series at then No. 7 Providence, winning 5-4 in overtime and losing 2-1.

• The UVM penalty kill unit is the fourth-best in the nation, stopping opponent on 89.9% of chances.

• BC and Northeastern met in a home-and-home last weekend, with each squad getting a home win.
• Northeastern scored three goals in the first period paved the way for a 4-1 win at Matthews Arena.
• The Eagles blocked a season-high 26 shots in front of Maddy McArthur, who finished with 25 saves to Aerin Frankel's 29.
• On Saturday, BC erupted for seven goals and held on a for a 7-5 win ... it was BC's first win over a Top 3 team since beating No. 3 Quinnipiac, 2-1, on Jan. 24, 2015.
• BC had three goals in the first period - including two from Megan Keller - for the first time this season ... all seven goals were at even strength.
• McArthur earned her first career assist in the win.
• In the BC win, the Eagles became the first team this season to take a three-goal lead on the Huskies.
• Watts has now notched at least one point in all seven career games against NU, including multiple points in four of those contests.

• Junior Lindsay Agnew will be suiting up for her 100th career game on Friday ... Delaney Belinskas and Bridget McCarthy suited up for their 100th career game on Jan. 12 against Northeastern.
• Last week, Kali Flanagan and Ryan Little each played in their 140th career game to crack the top 25 all-time in program history.
• BC has scored a league-high 22 goals in the second period in Hockey East contests.
• Freshman Kelly Browne is second among conference rookies in faceoff wins with 218 (sixth overall) ... she led all freshman in the country in face-off wins in the month of November with 75.
• Megan Keller has registered at least one point in 18 of her 22 games played this season.
• Caitrin Lonergan's .622 face-off winning percentage is fourth in the league.
• Daryl Watts is fourth in Hockey East with an average of 5.04 shots on goal per game while Lonergan is fifth with an average of 4.38.
• Among forwards, Makenna Newkirk's 33 blocks leads all of Hockey East and is eighth in the country.
• BC started Hockey East play 5-0-0 for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
KELLER MAKES HER CASE
• Megan Keller leads all defensemen nationally in scoring with a nation-high 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points.
• The senior is tied for the overall country lead in power-play goals with five.
• Her five power-play goals are a career-high and her two game-winning goals tie a career-high.
• Keller points total sits tied for 14th while her 1.23 points per game average is tied for 12th … three defenders have put up 18 points on the year while the next closest blue liner to Keller's points per game total sits at 0.89.
• The last defenseman to average at least 1.14 points per game during a season was Keller, doing it during her sophomore 2015-16 season (1.27).
• Keller has 74 shots on goal and is averaging 3.36 shots on goal per game, ranking third and fourth in the nation among blue liners.
• She has 30 blocks and is a plus-16.
