Key Free Throws by Taylor Soule Sinks Pitt, 59-55

Eagles are 2-2 in the ACC, 13-4 overall.
PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Freshman Taylor Soule hit four foul shots in the final 18 seconds to give Boston College a 59-55 victory over Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoon at the Petersen Events Center.

It was BC's second consecutive ACC victory as the Eagles improve to 13-4 overall and 2-2. Pittsburgh is 9-8 and 0-3 in the ACC.

This was the first time BC has won two consecutive ACC road games since the 2014-15 season. That season, the Eagles defeated Wake Forest on Feb. 12 and NC State in overtime on Feb. 16.

Sophomore Sydney Lowery hit a key baseline layup with 1:17 to play which gave BC a 55-47 lead. After two foul shots by Pitt's Jasmine Whitney, the two teams went scoreless until Soule, who is a 50 percent free throw shooter, hit two foul shots with 18 seconds to play. She calmly hit two more free throws with 13 seconds to push BC's lead to seven points. Soule's free throws turned away a comeback from Pitt that included two three-pointers in the final 15 seconds.

Boston College was led by junior Emma Guy with 15 points and five boards, while Soule had 13 points, two rebounds and three blocks. Freshman Makayla Dickens finished with 11 points and seven rebounds, while Milan Bolden-Morris added nine points and matched her career-high with nine rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Quarter – The Eagles opened up with five turnovers as Pitt shot out to a quick 8-3 lead. With 3:13 to play in the quarter, a three-pointer from Taylor Ortlepp and an Emma Guy bucket cut the Pitt lead to two points, 10-8. A scoreless final three minutes gave Pitt a 15-8 lead after one quarter.

2nd Quarter – The Eagles put together a 7-0 run when Milan Bolden-Morris made a traditional three-point play. That was followed by a hustle play by Soule which led to a lay-up by Guy. Soule capped the run off with a jumper at the top of the key for a BC 20-19 lead. The Eagles built a five-point lead behind a Soule layup and two free throws from Dickens. Pitt hit a buzzer beater at the half to cut into the Eagles lead – BC 29, Pitt 27.

3rd Quarter – Emma Guy sparked a 6-0 spurt in the middle of the quarter as BC took a 40-35 lead. A three by Whitney cut the Eagles lead to two points but a jumper by Marnelle Garraud and a layup in the final seconds of the quarter gave BC a 44-39 lead going into the final stanza.
4th Quarter – Dickens opened the fourth with a long three-pointer to extend the lead. BC pushed the lead to 10 points on an 8-3 run as Bolden-Morris hit a three, followed by a layup by Soule. The Eagles held on behind a Lowery layup and four foul shots from Soule in the final minute of play.

- Sophomore Milan Bolden-Morris had a team-high nine rebounds and played a season-high 29 minutes.
- BC won the battle of the boards, 40-34. This was the 13th game this season that the Eagles have outrebounded their opponent.
