Sophomore Kylee Raftis places first overall

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Boston College women's cross country team opened the 2018 season with a statement, claiming the team title at the Nassaney Invitational with 24 points. Saturday's meet was highlighted by Eagles' sophomore Kylee Raftis, who won the 5K race in a time of 17:31.8.

Northeastern came in second place with 75 points while third-place Holy Cross finished with 111 points.

Three Eagles broke the 18-minute mark with Raftis leading the charge. Junior Paige Duca finished in second place with a time of 17:51.1 while senior Delia Hayes came in third for the Eagles, rounding out the top four overall at 17:53.8.

The Boston College freshmen blew away the competition in the JV Women's 5K, finishing in the top eight positions to sweep the meet with 15 points.

BC Highlights
- Sophomore Kylee Raftis won the women's varsity event with a time of 17:31.8
- Junior Paige Duca (17:51.1) and senior Delia Hayes (17:53.8) placed top-four with their times.
- Sophomore Lauren White finished in sixth overall at 18:07.6 while sophomore Katherine DeLoreto finished in 18:29.7 for 11^th place.
- Sophomore Colleen Sliney finished 13th, crossing the line at 18:31.5. Sophomore Alison Burns finished 16th with a time of 18:37.4, followed by junior Anna Flynn in 17th at 18:37.8.
-Freshman Kayla Smith won the Women's JV 5K in a time of 18:02.6.
