BC returns top individuals for 2018 season
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College women's cross country team opens the season on Saturday in Smithfield, R.I., at the Nassaney Memorial Invitational, hosted by Bryant University.
Â
"We are excited and looking forward to the start of the 2018 season," assistant coach Julie Heyde said. "We feel this team is one that is prepared and eager to have a stronger showing than 2017."
Â
BC returns its top individuals in captains Paige Duca, who ran at the 2018 Indoor NCAA Track & Field Championships and the first round of the 2018 Outdoor NCAA Track & Field Championships, and Isabelle Kennedy, as well as seniors Delia Hayes and Sarah Marvin. But from veterans to freshmen, BC expects great racing in 2018.
Â
"Our sophomores and juniors are poised to make great gains this season coming off strong outdoor spring seasons last year and summer training," Heyde said. "The freshmen class has been awesome so far, all working hard and training well. This meet will be a great opportunity for them to get racing experience at the college level and for the team to come together in the first steps toward their united performance goals."
Â
The women's varsity 5K is set to start at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday with the women's JV 5K starting at 11:30 a.m.
