Eagles Wrap Up Perfect Week With Shutout Over New Hampshire
September 23, 2018 | Field Hockey
NEWTON, Mass. – The No. 9 Boston College field hockey team capped off a successful week with a 6-0 win over regional rival New Hampshire. The Eagles played three games in six days and defeated each of their opponents.
The Eagles opened up the contest with a pair of corner chances, but both shots went wide past New Hampshire goalkeeper Madelyn McAteer. Continuing the pattern that was set early on, the Eagles went on to pull seven corners in the first half compared to just one for the Wildcats.Â
Boston College capitalized on corner opportunities three times out of their seven over the first half. Starting off with senior captain Frederique Haverhals, who had a straight shot off of an insert from junior Brigid Wood and a stick stop from fellow captain Lucy Lytle at 19:05 into the first half.
Maddy Dorn capitalized on the next opportunity, less than two minutes after the first goal. Haverhals passed it to Dorn off of a muffed corner 20:56 into the game.
Elizabeth Warner ended the scoring for the half off of a corner as well, tipping it in after Jaime Natale took the initial shot at 26:36 into the game.
The Eagles grabbed a quick start into the second half, as Natale found the back of the net at 39:34 with a shot off of a spin move in the circle. Just one minute after, senior Elizabeth Dennehy found her first goal of the season with a shot from the corner that made it past McAteer, who was pulled following the fifth goal.
Wood found the final score of the afternoon, grabbing a pass from senior Carly Kauffman in the left corner of the circle off of a penalty corner.Â
