
UConn Awaits BC for Tuesday Night Non-Conference Clash

Huskies, Eagles used to be Big East foes

The Eagles are coming off the first loss of the season after being edged, 1-0, by No. 7 Louisville on Sept. 14. The ACC foes battled for 80 minute but Cherif Dieye notched the game-winner with 10 minutes to play to bump Boston College to 2-1-3 overall (and 1-1-0 in conference play).
UConn (4-2-0) is coming off a 3-2, double overtime win over Loyola Maryland on Saturday night. Abdou Mbacke Thiam recorded a hat trick in the win and now has a team-high five goals on the season. The game against the Eagles will serve as the final non-conference matchup for the Huskies begin American Athletic Conference play. Felix Metzler and Robin Lapert have been the other goal scorers for UConn this season.

• UConn is coming off a 3-2, double overtime win over Loyola Maryland on Saturday night.

• Aistom Aviza and Gianluca have both seen time in goal, with Aviza starting four games and going 3-1-0 with two shutouts and a .700 save percentage and 0.72 goals against average.
• Defender Jacob Hauser-Ramsey was tabbed the AAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year while Thiam and defender Dylan Greenberg also earned spots on the AAC All-Conference Preseason Team.
• UConn was picked to finish third in the preseason poll.
THE SERIES vs. CONNECTICUT
• BC holds a record of 2-3-0 in the last five meetings with UConn.
• Annual rivals for more than 20 years while in the Big East, Tuesday's meeting marks just the seventh between the teams since the Eagles joined the ACC in 2005.
• This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Huskies and Eagles will meet.
• The previous two meetings have been decided in overtime.
• Last season, Callum Johnson scored in the 104th minute to give BC a 3-2 double-overtime victory. The Eagles were down 2-0 in the 77th minute but Simon Enstrom and Joshua Forbes tied it up before Johnson's one-timer game-winner in extra time.

• Move the Eagles to 3-1-3 overall on the season.
• Bump BC to 3-2-0 in the last five meetings with the Huskies.

LAST TIME OUT
• On Sept. 14, BC suffered its first loss of the season, dropping a close 1-0 battle with No. 7 Louisville.
• BC now sits at 0-4-1 in the all-time series but four of the five meetings between the two teams have been decided by one goal or less.
• The Eagles held the final edge in shot attempts (8-7) while the Cardinals had the lead in corner kicks (5-1).
• Callum Johnson recorded two shot attempts and he has now registered at least two shots in five consecutive matches.
