COLLEGE PARK, Md.:Â The No. 13 Boston College field hockey team fought hard through numerous obstacles but eventually fell, 3-2, to No. 4 Maryland Friday night in College Park. The Eagles recorded the first goal of the night.

- GOAL: BC 1, UMD 0; 10:53:Â Graduate student Brooke Matherson got the night started, finding the back of the net off of a rebound shot in front of the net.
- GOAL: BC 1, UMD 1; 18:05:Â Madison Maguire tied the game, bringing the ball right up to the circle and through the Eagles' defense.Â
- GOAL: BC 1, UMD 2; 57:24: Sabrina Rhodes broke the tie with a hard shot from the left side of the circle after seeing no change in score for almost 40 minutes of play.
- GOAL: BC 2, UMD 2; 59:27:Â Senior captain Frederique Haverhals quickly turned the game back around, finding success off of a corner shot. Junior Brigid Wood recorded an assist.
- GOAL: BC 2, UMD 3; 67:55: Madison Maguire recorded the final goal of the night, grabbing a hard shot from right in front of the goal and deciding the game.
NOTABLES
- Matherson now is tied for the leading spot in goal scoring this season with two, sharing the lead with sophomore Fusine Govaert.Â
- Sophomore Jaime Natale led the team with four shots. Senior captain Ymke Rose Gote followed closely with three.
- Junior goalkeeper Sarah Dwyer recorded five saves.
