ABOUT PROVIDENCE
• The Friars head into Friday's game with a 1-1 record after opening up the season last weekend at the Southern Methodist University tournament.
• Providence topped No. 8 SMU, 2-1, in overtime in its first game thanks to a 104th minute goal from Alex DaCosta before falling, 3-0, the next night to the University of Illinois.
• The Friars, who went 5-8-5 in 2017, return 10 of 13 players that recorded at least one point a season ago.
• Goalkeeper Colin Miller was the unanimous BIG EAST Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year, while midfielder Danny Griffin joined his teammate on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.
• Providence was picked tied for fourth with Creighton in the conference preseason coaches' poll.
THE SERIES vs. PROVIDENCE
• Since 1978, the Eagles have a 17-7-6 mark against Providence and a mark of 5-4-4 away in Providence.
• When the two teams were in the Big East Conference (1985-2004), the Eagles held a 13-3-4 advantage in the series. Providence won the teams' first two meetings after BC left the Big East for the ACC (1-0 in Newton in 2007 and 1-0 in Providence in 2008).
• Last year – the first meeting between the two schools since 2008 – Simon Enstrom converted a penalty kick in double overtime to give BC a 2-1 win. Abe Bibas had the other goal for the Eagles.
A WIN OVER PROVIDENCE WOULD . . .
• Bump the Eagles' 2018 record to 2-0-1.
• Raise BC's edge in the all-time series to 18-7-6.
• Move the program's all-time record to 438-385-103 and head coach Ed Kelly's record at BC to 278-227-61.
LAST TIME OUT
• On Monday night, the Boston College battled Boston University for the 54th time in the crosstown series, with the Eagles pulling a late comeback to force overtime and earn a tie.
• BC fought back from a two-goal, second half deficit to tie BU twice in the final 30 minutes. Simon Enstrom's goal with 3:21 remaining pulled it even at 3-3 to force overtime.
• Freshman Joe Fryatt started in goal for the second consecutive game before giving way to sophomore Antonio Chavez Borrelli at the start of the second half. Chavez Borelli finished with two saves, including a diving save in overtime to preserve the tie.
• Lasse Lehmann, Abe Bibas and Enstrom notched the goals for BC while Matt McDonnell had a hat trick for BU.
• The goal was the first of Lehmann's career.
• The tie was the first in the series since Sept. 28, 1999, when the Eagles hosted the Terriers in another 3-3 tie. The deadlock moved the Eagles' unbeaten streak in the series to six games.
ENSTROM CONTINUES TO CLIMB BC CAREER CHARTS
• With three goals through two games in 2018, senior Simon Enstrom continues to climb up the BC career scoring charts.
• With 62 career points (24 goals, 12 assists), he is now tied for seventh all-time in program history with Jay Hutchins.
• Enstrom's 25 goals is good for sixth all-time in program history, one spot ahead of Charlie Davies (25) and one spot behind Charlie Rugg (28).
• Enstrom's brace against Quinnipiac in the season opener marked the fifth multi-goal game and the ninth multi-point game of his career.
• The captain's single-game points record is six after his first career hat trick last year at Harvard on Oct. 10.
LEHMANN'S WORK
• Junior Lasse Lehmann scored his first career goal on Aug. 27 against Boston University, enabling the Eagles to overcome a two-goal deficit and force overtime.
• That goal, along with an assist in the season opener at Quinnipiac, have already given him a career-high three points on the season.Â
• Lehmann assisted on one goal as a sophomore.
2018 CAPTAINS
• The Eagles will be led by the trio of Joshua Forbes, Simon Enstrom and Heidar Aegisson in 2018.
• Forbes is now in his second year serving as captain after first receiving the armband in 2017 as a junior.
• Enstrom and Aegisson are first-year captains.
