Welcome Back Picnic kicks off 2018-19 season
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -Â The Boston College Athletic Department hosted its annual Welcome Back Picnic on Monday evening in Conte Forum where the Eagles had the chance to escape from the heat and gather as one team to mark the start of the new school year and athletic seasons.Â
Â
William V. Campbell Director of Athletics Martin Jarmond welcomed student-athletes and coaching staff from all 31 programs to another year at Boston College, reminding the Eagles to represent BC well on and off the field and to take full advantage of the connections they make during their time at Boston College.
Â
The student-athletes then got the chance to catch up with old friends and meet new teammates over a meal and games. The Eagles also took the opportunity to write welcome back notes to their pen pals at the Thomas Edison K-8 School.
Â
Senior Grace Bizal - Women's Hockey
"I think it's really special when a ton of teams come together because it makes us feel like we are a big BC family. We're a big community, we go and support each other. It's nice to know when we all come together like this that we have each other's backs and look out for each other on campus, and we know we'll support each other through everything."
Â
Sammy Boateng - Assistant Women's Soccer Coach
"It symbolizes what BC stands for, from working in the community and being as one. You bring everyone together for one common cause; the student-athletes are all one team. Yes, we're all individual teams, but it's great that we all come together as athletes that work hard for that name on our jersey. It's cool when we all come together as one, all at one time, and be able to share food and enjoy each other's company and bask in the glory of Boston College Athletics."
