Four to lead lacrosse team for upcoming season
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.: Head coach Acacia Walker has announced that graduate student Kenzie Kent, along with seniors Dempsey Arsenault, Sam Apuzzo and Brooke Troy will lead the 2019 lacrosse team as captains.
Kent will use her final year of eligibility to return to the team for the 2019 season. She joined the 100 Point Club after only 25 games and ranks seventh all-time in career assists (58). As a junior, she scored 77 points, holding the ninth all-time individual season record.Â
Apuzzo led the team last season in goals (88), assists (41) and points (129). She currently ranks first all-time in draw controls (267), second all-time in points (273) and goals (189) and third all-time in assists (84). She holds both the first and second spots in both goals and points for individual single-season records: she notched 88 goals and 129 points as a junior and 80 goals and 119 points as a sophomore. She also holds the individual single-season record for assists and draw controls, recording 81 helpers and 163 controls as a junior in 2018. Apuzzo became the first Tewaaraton Award winner from Boston College when she received the award in 2017.
Arsenault had the second-highest number of goals (64), assists (39) and points (103) for her junior season, starting in all 24 matchups. She holds the fourth all-time record for draw controls (190), ninth spot all-time for ground balls (125) and joined the 100 Point club after 60 games with the Eagles. Her 59 ground balls in 2018 led the team.
Troy started in all 24 games of the 2018 season, recording three goals. She is credited with the fifth-most ground balls on the team in 2018, picking up 34 times.
The Eagles will aim for their third-consecutive NCAA Championship appearance in 2019, coming off of a 22-2 overall and perfect 7-0 conference record over one of the program's most successful seasons.Â
