Pair of Eagles each pick up their fourth preseason All-America nod.
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Sports Illustrated announced its annual preseason All-America teams on Wednesday and two Boston College standouts were honored. Senior safety Lukas Denis and sophomore running back AJ Dillon were named to SI's Preseason All-America second team.
Â
It marked the second straight year that at least one BC player was named to SI's Preseason All-America squad after Harold Landry was named to the 2017 first-team.
Â
For Denis, the honor marks his fourth preseason All-America nod leading up to opening day. He was previously recognized by Sporting News, Athlon Sports and Street & Smith's. Denis was a Walter Camp Football Foundation second-team All-American and All-ACC Second team selection in 2017. He tied for second nationally with seven interceptions. He led BC and tied for 17th nationally with 10 pass breakups. Denis is also on the Bednarik Award, Jim Thorpe Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy watch lists.
Â
Dillon, the preseason ACC Player of the Year, also pulled in his fourth preseason All-America selection. Phil Steele, Athlon and Lindy's Sports all recognized Dillon this summer. He is on the Doak Walker and Maxwell Award watch lists and on the Walter Camp Football Foundation's '50 players to watch' following a breakout freshman campaign. Dillon was the ACC Rookie and Offensive Rookie of the Year as he finished the season with 1,589 rushing yards; ranking seventh nationally and second among freshmen. He was a FWAA and ESPN.com Freshman All-American as he posted the most rushing yards by a BC freshman and the second most by a freshman in ACC history.

Boston College opens the 2018 season at home against UMass on Saturday, September 1 at 1 p.m. Single game and season tickets are available and can be purchased at BCEagles.com or by calling 617-552-GoBC.
