Sellers Walk-Off Home Run Completes Come-Back Win Over Georgia Tech

A two-run home run by Cameron Stanford in the first inning gave Georgia Tech an early 2-0 lead. Back-to-back walks by the Yellow Jackets in the fourth inning combined with two singles and a throwing error put Georgia Tech up 5-0. BC did not get on the board until the fifth inning when it loaded the bases on a walk, single and hit by pitch. Junior Carly Severini entered the game to pinch hit for sophomore Olivia Markopoulos and she blasted a bases-clearing triple off the right field wall. Junior Lexi DiEmmanuele hustled out a bunt single and senior Chloe Sharabba reached base on a fielder's choice. Sharabba got stuck in a run-down and was eventually tagged out, but DiEmmanuele scored on the play, pulling BC within one.

A solo home run by Malea Bell in the sixth inning increased the Georgia Tech lead to 6-4. With one out in the seventh inning, senior Jordan Chimento reached base on a hit by pitch. Severini blasted a home run over the left field wall to tie the score at six. The score remained tied until the 10th inning when, after a two-out double by freshman CC Cook, Sellers homered to center field to give the Eagles an 8-6 victory.

Redshirt junior Allyson Frei started the game for BC and she threw four innings, allowing four hits and five runs and recording six strikeouts. Senior Jessica Dreswick threw the remaining six innings, allowing only one run, two hits and collecting nine K's.

BC will return to action tomorrow, May 5, when it plays Georgia Tech in a double-header beginning at 1 p.m. at the Harrington Athletics Village at Brighton Fields for the second annual Back the Blue Game and Senior Day.

- Freshman Emme Martinez picked up her eighth double of the season. Out of her 30 hits, 12 have been for extra bases. She finished two-for-five on the night, recording her ninth multi-hit game of the year.
- DiEmmanuele has reached base safely in 11 straight games as she finished the day with two infield hits. Also, with her one run scored in the game, the junior is second on the team with 35 runs scored this season. DiEmmanuele has nine multi-hit games this season. She also stole her team-leading 12th base of the season and now has 81 career stolen bases, just five bases shy of the all-time record.
- With one hit on the night, senior Annie Murphy has reached base in 26 straight games. She is riding a five-game hitting streak.
- Frei and Dreswick combined for 15 strikeouts on the night.
Turning Point:.
With the score tied at six entering the 10th inning, Cook reached base on a two-out double. Sellers homered over the center field wall to secure a walk-off, 8-6, win for the Eagles.
How it Happened:
- Draven Sonnon led off the first inning with a walk. Stanford hit a home run to center field to put Georgia Tech up 2-0.
- Crosby Huckabay led off the fourth inning with a walk. With one out, Lilly Hooper drew another walk to put runners on first and second for BC. Breanna Roper singled to shortstop, scoring Huckabay and Hooper scored on a throwing error by the center fielder. Roper also advanced to third on the error. Kelsey Chisholm singled to third base, plating roper and increasing the Yellow Jackets' lead to 5-0.
- Cook led off the fifth inning with a walk. After Sellers flied out to center, junior Allyson Moore singled through the left side to put runners on first and second for BC. Chimento was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Severini entered the game as a pinch hitter and blasted a bases-clearing triple off the right field wall. DiEmmanuele hustled out a bunt single and then stole second. Sharabba reached on a fielder's choice as Severini was tagged out at home. Sharabba was caught in a run down between first and second and was eventually tagged out by the Georgia Tech shortstop, but DiEmmanuele scored on the play to pull BC within one.
- Malea Bell hit a solo home run to left field in the sixth inning, making the score 6-4.
- Chimento reached base on a hit by pitch with one out in the seventh inning. Severini blasted a home run over the left field wall to tie the score at six at the end of seven innings of play.
- In the bottom of the ninth inning, Chimento led off with a single to left. With two outs, Sharabba hit a single to right, but Chimento was caught in a run-down between second and third to end the inning.
- With two outs in the 10th inning, Cook doubled to left center field. Sellers blasted a two-run walk-off home run to center field to secure an 8-6 victory for BC.
