Julia Barron broke the school record in the 400 meter hurdles
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Boston College women's track and field team competed at the ACC Championships at the University of Miami at Cobb Stadium on Thursday – Saturday, May 10-12. At the end of two days of competition, the women were in 14th place with five points. The team finished in 15th place with 12 points. Miami won the meet with 117 points.

Standout performances included a fourth place finish in both the 3000 meter steeplechase and 1500 meter run by junior Paige Duca. Senior Julia Barron broke the school record in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 59.91.

Select members of the team will compete in the NCAA Regionals in Tampa, Fla. on Thursday – Saturday, May 24 – 26. Â

BC Highlights:
- Duca finished in fourth place overall in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:15.68. She also finished in fourth place overall in the 1500 meter run, crossing the line in 4:19.15.
- Barron broke the school record in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 59.91 to become the first BC female runner in school history to run sub-60 in the event.
- Freshman Miranda Thompson ran a time of 4:31.06 in the 1500 meter run. Senior Julia Gregory finished the event in 4:33.23.
- Senior Laura Leff took 16th in the steeplechase at 10:57.48.
- Sophomore Julia Lyons finished in 12th place in the long jump with a jump of 5.77 meters.
- Freshman Jessica Creedon finished in ninth place in the heptathlon with 4,619 points.
- Senior Shannon Ahern crossed the line first for BC in the 800 meter run at 2:12.12.
- Junior Sarah Marvin was the top BC finisher in the 10,000 meter run, crossing the line in 37:07.56 for 15th place.
- Sophomore Abigail Gothers took 15th place in the high jump with a jump of 1.59 meters.
- Sophomore Amanda Sinkewicz finished in seventh place in the javelin throw with a throw of 40.30 meters.
