Dreswick Breaks Win Record with Victory over Harvard

Annie Murphy broke the all-time double record at BC
BRIGHTON, Mass. – The Boston College softball team defeated cross-town rival Harvard, 3-1, at the Harrington Athletics Village at Brighton Fields on Tuesday afternoon behind a sixth-inning two run rally and a complete-game performance by senior pitcher Jessica Dreswick.
Harvard and BC struck first in the first inning with one run and BC responded in the bottom of the inning with a run of its own. The Eagles would load the bases in the second and third innings, but were unable to score until the sixth inning. Junior Allyson Moore led off with a walk and she advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore Olivia Markopoulos. Junior Lexi DiEmmanuele laid down a sacrifice bunt and she reached on a throwing error by the Crimson pitcher that allowed Moore to score. DiEmmanuele advanced to second on the error and quickly stole third base. A sacrifice fly by senior Chloe Sharabba allowed DiEmmanuele to score as BC took a 3-1 lead that it would hold to close out the game.
Despite stranding 11 runners on the base paths, BC was able to come away with the win. Dreswick threw all seven innings, allowing five hits, one run, two walks and recording five strikeouts. With her 15th win of the season and 56th career W, Dreswick has broken the all-time win record at Boston College, surpassing Alexis Beckman 97' who recorded 55 career wins.
BC returns to ACC action when it travels to Louisville, Ky. to play the Cardinals in a three-game series on Friday – Sunday, April 27-29.

- Murphy hit her ninth double of the season and the 40th two-bagger of her career. She has now broken the all-time double record at BC, surpassing Jenna Macchi '07 for sole possession of first place in the BC record books.
- With two hits on the day, Murphy extended her hitting streak to 16 games. She has reached base safely in 20 straight games. The senior now has 17 multi-hit games on the season. This is the ninth time this season that Murphy has recorded two hits in a single game. With 208 career hits, she is now in sole possession of third place on the all-time list.
- Sharabba recorded a hit, one RBI, two stolen bases and scored one run on the day. She leads the team with 37 runs scored this season and she is second on the team with 12 stolen bases.
- DiEmmanuele stole her team-leading 19th bag of the season. She is second place on the BC all-time list with 73 career stolen bases.
- Freshman Cami Sellers extended her hitting streaks to five games with one hit on the day.

- Rhianna Rich led off the game in the first inning with a single to the shortstop. Meagan Lanz hit a double to center field and advanced to third on an error by DiEmmanuele. The error also allowed Rich to score, giving Harvard an early 1-0 lead.
- BC responded in the bottom of the inning as Sharabba led off with a single to center field and then quickly stole second. Murphy drew a walk and, with the double steal on, the seniors each advanced to second and third. Freshman CC Cook hit a sacrifice fly to right to plate Sharabba and tie the score at 1.
- The Eagles threatened in the second inning by loading the bases on a walk by Sellers, followed by an error by the Harvard first baseman that allowed Moore to reach and another walk by DiEmmanuele. BC was unable to score though.
- BC re-loaded the bases in the third inning when Cook singled to the shortstop, Martinez reached on an error by the second baseman and Sellers singled to left field but the Eagles did not score.
- Harvard had a runner on first and second when Dallas Hogan reached on an error and Rich singled down the line with one out, but Dreswick forced two fly outs to keep the score tied at 1.
- Moore led off the sixth inning with a walk and she advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Markopoulos. DiEmmanuele laid down a bunt and reached on a throwing error by the pitcher, allowing Moore to score. DiEmmanuele advanced to second on the throwing error and then stole third base. Sharabba hit a sacrifice fly to right field to plate DiEmmanuele and put BC up 3-1.
