TURNING POINTS
- Tied at 12-12 after Sam Apuzzo tied the game with 3:11 left, Lauren Daly made a point-blank save on Sam Swart's go-ahead effort with 2:05 to go
- With 24 seconds left in the game and tied at 12-12, Sam Apuzzo forced Syracuse goaltender Asa Goldstock out of bounds just inside the midfield line, causing a turnover and returning the ball to the Eagles
- With 1.7 seconds left, Apuzzo collected Taylor Walker's pass inside, turned and faked before finding space past Goldstock while falling down to win the game for BC
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BC jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first four minutes of the game as Kaileen Hart, Tess Chandler and Sam Apuzzo all netted tallies.
- Syracuse then shut down BC for the next 13:10 while using goals from Neena Merola, Emily Hawryschuk and Taylor Gait to tie the score at 3-3 with 14:55 left
- Emma Schurr's goal kickstarted a 4-0 BC run with 13:06 left in the first, which also included goals by Apuzzo, Chandler and Cara Urbank, and the Eagles held a 7-3 lead with 8:35 to go
- Syracuse again rallied, clawing all the way back at 7-7 with 3:36 left in the first before Chandler's goal with 21 seconds left in the first sent BC into the intermission up 8-7
- Schurr and Taylor Walker pushed the lead to 10-7 on the other side of halftime, but yet again Syracuse came back to tie the game at 10-10 with 19:06 left behind a strike from Riley Donahue and a pair from Mary Rahal
- After almost six minutes of back-and-forth scoreless action, Apuzzo's third of the day put BC ahead at 11-10 with 13:26 to go, but Rahal again tied the score at 9:14
- Sam Swart's second of the day with 5:19 gave Syracuse its first lead of the day at 12-11, but after winning the ensuing draw, Hawryschuk turned the ball over in the Eagles' end, sending BC on the attack before Apuzzo's fourth of the day evened the score at 12-12
- Syracuse won the next draw and after a pair of quick BC fouls, Swart's go-ahead effort from point-blank range was stopped by BC goalie Lauren Daly
- With BC setting up for a late shot in the Orange end, Dempsey Arsenault was hit on the head on a drive to the cage, sending Merola off for 2:00 with a yellow card. Arsenault's ensuing free-position attempt clanged off the pipe, and Syracuse recovered the ground ball near the draw circle.
- SU used a timeout to regroup and had goalie Asa Goldstock bring the ball out deep into the midfield, where Apuzzo and Urbank collapsed on her near the sideline, forcing her out of bounds and creating the game-changing turnover with 24 seconds left
- BC set up for the shot before time expired and with seconds ticking down, Walker dumped the ball into Apuzzo in front where she faked a shot before sending the game-winning tally past Goldstock as she fell down with 1.7 seconds to go
