Boston College's run through the 2018 New York Life ACC Tournament ended in the quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon, falling to #4 seeded Clemson, 90-82.
The Eagles jumped out to a 12-3 advantage less than five minutes into the game, but the Tigers would outscore BC, 33-10, over the next 9:37, to take a 36-22 lead with 5:40 to play. Three straight possessions with 3-pointers - two from Jordan Chatman and one from Jerome Robinson - got the Eagles within six (40-34) with 1:47 left in the period. Clemson led 43-36 at the break.
Clemson began the second half on a 12-3 run, extending its lead to 16 - at 55-39 with 13:45. That's when the best backcourt in the ACC began to heat up. Over the next 7:17, the Eagles' 21-8 run made it a two-point game - 63-61 - with 5:49 to play. Robinson scored 12 of the 21 points during the run.
After trading baskets on the next two possessions, Clemson used a 16-7 push to make it a 12-point game - 81-69 - with a minute to play. Ky Bowman scored 11 of BC's next 13 points and converted a layup with 27 seconds left to make it 87-82. The Tigers made 3-of-4 from the charity stripe down the stretch to seal the win.
