BC Takes 15th at New England Championships

The men had six top-10 finishes in the meet
BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston College men's track and field team competed in its fifth meet of the indoor season and first championship meet on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 2-3 at the New England Championships at the Reggie Lewis Track & Field Center in Boston, Mass. The men finished in 15th place out of 24 teams after two days of competition

The men were in 11th place after the first day of competition. They finished in 15th place with 12 points. Northeastern won the meet with 164 points.

Top finishes by the men include a third place finish in the 4x800 meter relay and a fifth place finish in the distance medley relay. Individually, junior Michael Saxon took eighth place in the 500 meter run and freshman Sean Sullivan finished in eighth place in the 3000 meter run.

BC returns to action at the BU David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Friday. Feb. 9 at the Track and Tennis Center at Boston University.

BC Highlights:
- Saxon finished in eighth place overall in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:06.65.
- Junior Andrew Willis took 14th place in the 800 meter run, crossing the line in 1:56.78. Freshmen Ben Davies and Ben Ruffing also broke two minutes in the event, crossing the line at 1:59.04 and 1:59.26, respectively.
- Sophomore Ryan Scanlon finished in 10th place in the 1000 meter run at 2:31.60.
- Junior Ian Ritchie finished in 14th place in the one mile run, crossing the line at 4:20.18.
- Sullivan earned an eighth place finish in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:36.50. Sophomore Zachary Beston and Benjamin Osipow took 12th and 13th, respectively.
- The 4x400 meter relay team of freshman Ryan Russell, classmate J'Saun Bastien, freshman Stephen Windisch and Saxon crossed the line in 10th place with a time of 3:21.73.
- The 4x800 meter relay team of freshman Michael Hains, Willis, Ritchie and junior Matthew Morano earned a bronze medal in the event, crossing the line at 7:40.03.
- The distance medley relay team composed of Osipow, Morano, Hains and freshman Sean Sullivan earned a fifth place finish on the day with a time of 10:14.55.
- In the field events, sophomore Avery Mckenzie took 11th place in the triple jump with a jump of 14.38 meters.
