No. 4 BC's Rally Falls Short at Boston University
December 01, 2018 | Women's Hockey
Daryl Watts earned her 100th career point in the loss.
BOSTON – The No. 4/4 Boston College women's hockey team scored just 23 seconds into the third period to pull within a goal of Boston University, but the Terriers held on for a 4-2 win on Saturday afternoon at Walter Brown Arena. Daryl Watts became the 19th player in program history and the fourth sophomore to reach the 100 career point plateau in the loss.
After a scoreless first period, it would be the Eagles that struck first when Megan Keller notched her fifth power-play goal of the season 90 seconds into the frame. The Terriers, though, responded three minutes later on a goal from Abby Cook. It would be Cook's second goal of the period midway through that put BU on top. Another BU goal late in the frame had the Terriers up by two by the second intermission.
Down but not out, the Eagles came out flying in the final frame and Watts cut the deficit to one just 27 seconds after the opening face off. BC kept looking for the equalizer but couldn't find the back of the net over the final 19:33 of the game. BU's empty netter with 22 seconds to go sealed the game.
Maddy McArthur finished with 18 saves for BC and BU's Corinne Schroeder had 37.
