Eagles Continue Homestand Against Vermont
November 07, 2018 | Men's Hockey
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College continues a five-game homestand this Thursday (Nov. 8) and Friday (Nov. 9) at Kelley Rink as the Vermont Catamounts visit Chestnut Hill for a two-game Hockey East series. Both games will air live on ESPN3 and WEEIÂ 850 AM. The Eagles split a home-and-home series with Merrimack last weekend, falling 2-1 on Friday before beating the Warriors 4-1 on Saturday in Chestnut Hill to snap their five-game skid. UVM fought back to split a two-game series with UConn in Burlington, tying Saturday's contest with 13 seconds left in regulation before Ace Cowans' game-winner beat the buzzer with 0.5 seconds remaining in overtime.
MONKEY OFF THE BACK
• The line of David Cotton, Julius Mattila, and Logan Hutsko combined for three goals, eight points, and a plus-7 rating last Saturday night, leading Boston College to a convincing 4-1 Hockey East victory over visiting Merrimack
• The Eagles scored three times in the first eight minutes of the second period to blow the game open and handed the Warriors their fourth straight loss at Conte Forum
• Cotton led the way with his second four-point game of the season, factoring in every BC tally with two goals and two assists while posting a team-high five shots on goal
• Mattila collected a goal and an assist, while Hutsko assisted on each of the game's first two scores; both players closed the series with a goal and two primary assists
• Cotton nearly sealed his second hat trick of the season in the third period, but his one-timer down low was robbed by Drew Vogler; he now leads the team with eight points on five goals and three assists
• Joseph Woll made 29 saves in the Boston College net for the victory, while he and the rest of the Boston College penalty kill was a perfect 7-for-7
