Eagles Pull Away in Second Half for 73-53 Win over Milwaukee

Ky Bowman scores 19 points, Wynston Tabbs adds 16; Steffon Mitchell with 14 rebounds
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Boston College outscored Milwaukee, 46-16, in the second half as it earned a 73-53 victory in the season opener on Tuesday night at Conte Forum.
The Eagles trailed by 11 points - 17-6 - just over seven minutes into the game, as the Panthers connected on four 3-pointers early on. Milwaukee would lead by as many as 14 points in the first half, taking a 26-12 advantage with 8:19 to play on the back of its perimeter shooting. The Panthers led, 37-27, at the break.
To start the second half, the Panthers connected on their seventh 3-pointer and took a 40-27 lead. But Boston College would begin to impose its will on both sides of the floor.
A 14-0 run over the next four minutes, capped by a three-point play from Nik Popovic, gave BC its first lead since the 18:11 mark of the first half. A Wynston Tabbs layup with 7:27 to play extended the second half run to 30-6 and put BC up by double-digits - 57-46.
BC closed out the game on a 16-7 push.

- Ky Bowman - the Nation's Most Dynamic Guard - led all scorers with 19 points. Bowman was 6-of-12 from the floor and connected on 6-of-7 from the free throw line. He added eight rebounds, four assists, two blocked shots, and a steal.
- Wynston Tabbs scored 16 points in his collegiate debut. The freshman guard was 6-of-11 from the floor (1-4 3FG; 3-4 FT). He also tallied four rebounds and an assist.
- Nik Popovic added 12 points, seven boards, and two blocks in 26 minutes of action.
- Steffon Mitchell corralled 14 rebounds - one short of his career-best - to go with eight points, two assists, and a blocked shot in 32 minutes.
- Jairus Hamilton added eight points and seven rebounds in 20 minutes of action.
- Jordan Chatman played all 40 minutes, registering seven points, three boards, and two assists.
- Chris Herren Jr. knocked down his lone field goal attempt - a 3-pointer - to go with one rebound in five minutes.
- BC connected on 39.3% (22-56) from the floor for the game, but shot 50.0% in the second half (14-28).
- The Eagles struggled from the outside in the first half, making 1-of-10, but knocked down 4-of-10 from beyond the arc over the second 20:00 of play.
- On the glass, Boston College corralled 49 rebounds to 38 for Milwaukee.
